ABOUT
Fisheries Engineering and Environment (HL)
Objective: This multidisciplinary specialization aims to train future executives in the management of aquatic environments and the fisheries and aquaculture sector, both in marine and continental areas. The primary purpose of this training is to provide the necessary foundation for understanding:
- the components of aquatic resources and ecosystems, both marine and freshwater.
- the functioning of exploitation systems and marine ecology.
Student targets :
Students who have completed this training should be able to analyze fisheries and aquaculture systems from both a scientific and technical perspective. Specifically, they must master theories and methods related to the biology of living aquatic resources, exploitation methods, the economics of natural resources, and the valorization of aquatic organisms.
Modalities and Procedure:
The fisheries specialization is structured over a 16-month period, following the first year of a broad-based Agronomic Engineering curriculum. The coursework is organized into clusters of modules spread over seven sequences, four during the 2nd year of the engineering cycle and three during the 3rd year, with four months dedicated to an end-of-study internship.
This training is characterized by three main focuses:
Management of Aquatic Resources and Ecosystems
Management of Aquatic Resources and Ecosystems involves the sustainable oversight and conservation of water environments and their biodiverse inhabitants to ensure ecological balance and resource availability for future generations.
Production and Valorization of Aquatic Organisms
Production and valorization of aquatic organisms focus on the cultivation, enhancement, and sustainable utilization of aquatic species for various purposes.
Aquaculture
Aquaculture is the breeding, rearing, and harvesting of fish, shellfish, algae, and other organisms in all types of water environments
