  •  Farouk Kamoun earned his engineering degree from the École Supérieure d'Électricité (Supélec) in France and both 
  • a Master's degree and PhD in computer science from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), USA.

ARPANET

  •  At UCLA, he was involved in the ARPANET project, the precursor to the Internet, focusing his research on designing large computer communication networks. 

Actual position 

  • He is currently a Professor Emeritus at the National School of Computer Science (ENSI) at the University of Manouba, Tunisia, 
  • a senior member of the CRISTAL research laboratory and 
  • scientific advisor to Sesame University
  • He is a senior member of the IEEE
  • He is a co-founder and president of the African Foundation for Digital Governance for Inclusive Development (Aegid-F), 
  • He is at  the Tunisian Association for Research and Innovation in Networks (TRINET)
  • and a co-founder and former vice-president of the Internet of Things consortium "IoT Tunisia."

research and interest

  • His areas of research and interest include Computer Networks, Internet of Things, Blockchain and Intelligent Transport Systems. 
  • He is author or co-author of more than two hundred publications in scientific journals and conferences
  • F. Kamoun is an international expert on policy and strategy in the ICT, education, digital transformation, and Science, Technology, and Innovation sectors. 
  • His interests include Smart Cities, the Internet of Things, Blockchain Applications and Digital Transformation.
  • He is a senior member of the IEEE and has served as president of the Tunisian Internet Governance Forum. 

Previously 

He has held numerous leadership roles in various institutions, including serving as 

  • the head of the IT department at the Faculty of Sciences of Tunis, 
  • Chairman of the Board, and CEO of the National Center for Informatics (CNI), where he played a key role in promoting IT in Tunisia and developing IT applications for the Tunisian Administration. 
  • He has also served as the Dean of National School of Computer Science, University of Manouba, as Director of the CRISTAL research Lab
  • and, more recently, as the President of the Board and Dean of Sesame University.
  • he has served as president of the Tunisian Internet Governance Forum.
